Ron is hoping to find work for Charles Pillsbury's flour mill, near the St. Anthony Falls and the Mississippi River. He is an immigrant from Ireland and wants to make a good amount of money for his family. He hopes to become a farmer to make the most of his land near his home. Here he is on his way to the mill.
Ron begins work at his home in Minneapolis. He gets the wheat growing and gets good profit from his new farmland.
Soon, Ron's job is taken over by new machines, and he doesn't know how to run them.
Ron learns how to use the new machinery and is able to harvest more wheat than he did before, and gets more profit. His farm now is one of the leading producers of wheat in the nation.
Ron brings his harvested wheat to the mill for the workers to turn into flour.
Ron continues working at the farm and harvesting more wheat.
