I like this scene and specifically this quote because it reminds me of how much this book related and still relates to the world. It makes me think of slavery and how people justified that with religion (among other things), which I'm sure the author thought of while writing this. The quote also makes me think of a serious problem today—people often justify homophobia, and specifically conversion therapy, by using the Bible, which is a big problem, not just in the U.S, but in the rest of the world.
