Abolitionists agreed that slavery need to end and that it was wrong. But they argued and disagreed on how to end slavery. Some believed they deserved freedom but not equality others believed they should go back to Africa. The" Back to Africa" movement failed because most slaves were born into slavery and never had been to Africa.
Frederick Dougalss was once a slave himself he became a big in the anit-slavery movement. He was associated with the North Star newspaper. He also talked out about how slaves where treated and people tented to listen more because he escaped from slavery.
The underground rail road was a network of people helping free slaves. They had conductors who lead escapes and brought the slaves to stations/hide out spots on their journey to freedom. One very famous conductor was Harriet Tubman she lead 19 escapes saving about 300 slaves.
