Storyboard Text

  • What is photosynthesis?
  • Photosynthesis is a process that converts sunlight, water, and CO2 to glucose and oxygen. 6CO2 + 6H2O + light energy = C6H12O6 + 6O2.
  • That's a good question my Lord!
  • Sunlight is absorbed from the chlorophyll in the chloroplast.
  • Water is absorbed through the roots of the plants and the xylem transports it to the leaves for photosynthesis.
  • Because sunlight is being absorbed, it allows CO2 to go into the leaves stomata.
  • Guard cells determine if CO2 can go through the stomata or not. Sunlight activates the guard cells, opening the stomatas pores to let CO2 and water through.
  • After sunlight, CO2, and water is absorbed, they go through the light dependent reaction; converting the suns energy to chemical energy (ATP and NADPH).
  • The chemical energy then goes through another process called the Calvin cycle creating glucose and its waste, oxygen.
  • The phloem then transports the glucose throughout the plant to be used as food or stored away as starch.
  • Since oxygen is its waste, it has no use for the plant(s) and is dispelled into the air.

  • PLANTS ARE SO COOL CAN I BECOME ONE WITH THE PLANTS?!
  • But... wont I be dead?
  • Maybe 100 years from now my lord
  • Exactly.
