Storyboard Text

  • The Seljuk Turks were war like people that invaded other kingdoms and made the Byzantine Empire feel threatened, so once the Byzantines were invaded, they cried for help
  • We should invade The Byzantine Empire and take over!!!
  •
  •
  • Pope Urban II finally responded to their cries for help, and decided to help the Byzantines
  • Please help us Pope Urban II!!!
  • I will help you, and for the people that volunteer to help fight, will get instant entries to Heaven!!!
  •
  • As a result of the pope's public announcement, about 30,000 men joined The Crusades
  •
  • This First Crusade was really successful for the Christians. They conquered Jerusalam and established 4 kingdom that were located in former Muslim territories.
  • Pope Urban II called for a Second Crusade. This Crusade was a great defeat for the Muslims. This started with the loss of Edessa and then things escalated from there and just got worse. A crusader army from Germany was defeated. Then French Crusaders were defeated at Jerusalem, soon after this event. the Second Crusade ended.
  • GET BACK HERE!!!! IM GOING TO KILL YOU!!!
  • NOT BY THE HAIR OF MY CHINNY CHIN CHIN!!!
  • A couple decades after the second crusade ended, most of Muslim lands came under a rule. Sultan Salah al-Din rallied the Muslims and took back Jerusalem. Meanwhile, an English king was battling Jerusalem. His name was King Richard I. AKA: Richard The Lionheart. The two leaders eventually came to a truce. This concluded the third crusade.
  • JUST GIVE US JERSUSALEM!!!
  • NO, why don't we just have a truce?!
  • The later the fights for the holy land were mostly unorganized movements by peasants rather than organized military efforts. As an example, in 1212, thousands and thousands of children marched towards the Holy Land and now it is known as the Children's Crusade. Almost none of them made it to the Holy Land.
