Storyboard Text

  • What a cute cat!
  • Thanks! She´s so pretty because his dad is a Bobtail and her mother a Manx
  • Oh, so she is a hybrid then
  • A hybrid is the offspring of two dissimilar individuals
  • A what?
  • Well, usually through selective breeding humans chose the best of both organisms to make a better offspring, like corn, it took about 6000 years of breeding to be like it is
  • And what do hybrids do?
  • meow
  • But aren't they bad for you?
  • Not really, studies have provided no scientific support for concern about their safety. They provide a better, less expensive and more nutritious food, and a less harmful manufacturing process
  • Well, you can combine DNA fragments. Recombinant DNA technology makes it possible to change the genetic composition of living organisms.
  • Is that like GMOs food?
  • Exactly, GMOs or transgenic foods can be produced by the insertion of this recombinant DNA into the genome of the host organisms. You can also have GM animals
