"Tell Them Not To Kill Me" takes places in the areas of Alima and Puerta de Piedras where two men, Juvencio Nava and Don Lupe werefueding over grazing during a recent dry spell. Don Lupe refused to let Juvencio’s animals graze on his property. After several warnings, Don Lupe finally killed one of Juvencio’s animals for wandering onto his land. In retaliation, Juvencio killed Don Lupe.
After Juvencio killed Don Lupe, he tried to bribe the judge to release him. Being denied, he escaped and went into hiding with his son in Palo de Venado. Upon hearing that Don Lupes's widow had died and his two children moved, he believed he was some what safe. However he still lived in fear of being caught, hiding out or going on the run whenever he heard that outsiders or strangers were in the area.
After thirty five to forty years of being on the run , Juvencio was finally caught and arrested to his murderous crime. They even tied him up, even though he is too old and weak to try to escape. They tell him that he will be execute him. Juvencio could not accept the dreadful thought of dying like this. He pleads with his son Justino to tell them not to kill him
