  • Arachne is a great wool producer that lived in a obscure little village. Her products were well known for it's outstanding quality. Some says that goddess  Athena taught her.
  •                                             Climax
  • Athena came to visit Arachne. The Goddess, disguised as an old woman warned her of her bad attitude.  
  • Falling Action
  • Then the old woman transformed into a Goddess, Athena, everyone shocked. Arachne challenged Athena in a weaving contest. Both showing a equal skill in weaving, Athena's work is beautiful while Arachne's work is magnificent.
  • Resolution
  • Unfortunately, Athena offended by the additional images in Arachne's work. Athena and the viewers did not take it lightly. In anger, the Goddess ripped Arachne's tapestries, then she struck Arachne across the face
  • Arachne stood there a moment , struggling with anger, fear and pride. She cried, and seizing a rope from the wall, she made a noose and would have hanged herself.
  • Athena touched the rope and touched the maiden. She made Arachne into a spider, all spiders descend from her and as the greeks watched them spinning their thread, they remember the contest and pride of Arachne.
