  • Because of the spread of Arabic language the trade in the Sub-Saharan became way more important and became more prevalent. The introduction of camels made trade routes a regular thing.
  • One major trade point for the trans-Saharan trade was the Niger River because many people found it easier to move things by water.
  • These routes were traveled to go and trade high end goods such as gold and silk. Where there are high end products there are people looking to steal so merchants had to be weary of bandits.
