The setting is in the 1960s and takes place in Tusla, Oklahoma. Where Bryon and his Best friend Mark live together in an old home with Bryon's sick and single mother, but is very rare when Mark and Bryon are home because they are often out in town

The protagonist in this novel is Bryon Douglas. Bryon was at first very childish but as adulthood came along and met a nice girl, he changed his ways and became very developed, but left Mark behind.

The antagonist in this novel it Mark Jennings. Mark has always been and acted like a kid. But when his childhood comes to an end he rebels and does something unspeakable which ends up getting Bryon involed.
The conflict is Character vs society. Because in a time where stereotypes are a big thing, almost everyone was against Bryon and Mark for what they believed, there actions, and the conditions they were in with being on the poor side.
