One key event is when her friend called her 33 times and she feels guilty about not answering it because she could have saved her life
“...She called. Thirty three times. You didn’t answer. Body found in motel room alone. You left her alone. Should should should have done anything everything. You killed her.” (97)
This explains that Lia feels guilty, She thinks that she had killed her friend because she never answers her when she needed her. She thinks that if she just answered everything would be ok she is breaking down and she can't think straight the guilt is overwhelming her and she cant take it. This creates a problem because later on, she does things to herself like cutting which affects her rapidly she calls herself names and her self-esteem goes down, But this also keeps the story going.
When her friend is found dead in the motel room and she finds out, it starts up the story and this keeps the storying going as well
“...body found in a motel room, alone…” (pg.1 chapter 1 line 6)
This quote is when Lia finds out Casey is dead and she is traumatized and hurt. This creates a problem for her because she blames herself because she never answer her calls and thinks it was all her fault and she is breakings down being ripped to shreds by her guilt but on the other hand this is also a good thing because without her finding this out she would have never gone on to find the things out and again without this the story would continue or start.
