Children including, Lizabeth, Joey and others make their way to Ms. Lotties house to make fun of her and her son. Continuing the taunting they start throwing rocks at Ms. Lottie and her son.
During this period of time it was known as the great depression where people were struggling with money and their jobs, conditions were crucial for black people. Lizabeth and her brother come home to their parents arguing about who does the most work, which made the children very upset
Lizabeth recognizes her childish behavior and her overall understanding for Ms. Lottie changes and grows, in which she now feels more grown up and mature. Lizabeth understands and now realizes her mistake and misunderstood Ms. Lotties character and apologizes.
