Storyboard Text

  • Oh no! I just dropped my necklace in some soil. Cynthia can you come get it for me
  • Wide Shot
  • I thought you said you dropped it in soil, you just dropped it in some sand.
  • Wow, that's very interesting I never knew that.
  • Wide Shot
  • I did drop in in soil, sand is a type of soil.
  • Really? I didn't know that. Since we are talking about soil, what is soil?
  • Close Shot on Camille
  • Soil is a mixture of minerals, water, air, and organic matter.
  • There are many types of soil including sand, clay, loam, silt, and many more
  • So you're telling me that sand is actually a type of soil.
  • Close Shot on Camille and switch to wide
  • Yes and in each soil there are 6 horizons or layers...
  • So how is soil formed?
  • Cynthia, can you get my necklace now?
  • Soil is formed when rocks are weathered down into tiny little pieces. It takes a long time for new soil to form.
  • Wide shot
  • Of course.
  • That's not true. All soil has existed since the Earth was formed.
  • No problem Cynthia. Remember kids, not all soil is old and has existed since the earth has formed. And they are all unique in their own way.
  • That is actually a common misconception that most people think. But the truth is that not every soil is old. Every 100 to thousand years new soil is formed.
  • Both: Bye!
  • Close Shot on both and switch to wide when screen fades
  • Thanks Camille for teaching me that.
