- President mckebly just got the news to have Hawii annexed and put into the hands of the US. the us wanted hawii due to its plentiful recources and everything they needed.

- When william seward bought alaska it was mainly for expansion and eveyone thought it was stupid. They all thought alaska was just this big ice box but they later found out that alaska held a ton of gold on it so seward was proven right
