The story of Rapunzel is based on a true story. In the third century, a merchant locked his daughter in a tower because he didn't want her to have any suitors. While in the tower, she converted to Christianity. She would pray so loud that the whole town would hear. Her father found out and after she refused to convert, he was left with two options. Behead her or give up his fortune. He decided to kill her, but then died later after being struck by lightning.
Real life event
Rapunzel was a baby when she was taken from her parents by a witch. The witch raised her but eventually put her in a tower.
One day, a prince visited her in her tower. They fell in love and she wanted to be with him.
However, the witch found out and was angry. She cut off Rapunzel's hair and took her somewhere far away. Then, she blinded the prince by throwing him into a bush of thorns.
Rapunzel, while in the middle of nowhere, gave birth to a child she had had with the prince. Eventually, she and her prince reunited. She saw that he was blind and she wept for him. Her tears restored his sight.
