But what about the 1st amendment? Shouldn't that protect there rights?
No instead they were arrested, for distribution.

You're right when they were arrested the had a case and the case was dismissed with no charges because they had rights protected by the 1st amendment. Right to freedom, speech,religion, protest, press, and petion of the government. It applied to every citizen, even ones of color.
Without them and many others that fought to end segregation, you wouldn't be able to own this shop.
