  • Shah Jahan overspent on his army, and war equipment.
  • Shah Jahan also overspent on beautiful buildings. For example, the Taj Mahal.
  • Shah Jahan intended the Taj Mahal to be a palace for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
  • Mumtaz Mahal died during its construction, so it became her tomb. Shah Jahan was devastated.
  • Those plans were cast away as he was imprisoned by his son, Aurangzeb.
  • Shah Jahan wanted to build an identical black Taj Mahal across the river as his tomb.
  • The positive impact was that everyone could enjoy the buildings, and Shah Jahan could defend the empire well.
  • The negative impact was that he spent the money on his wants, and the money could've been used for his people's needs too.
  • Overall, Shah Jahan was a great leader of the Mughal Empire
