On December 7, 1941, Prime Minister of Japan, Hideki Tojo, ordered the attack on Pearl Harbor in hopes of wiping U.S presence in the sea. If all American aircraft carriers were destroyed during the operation, the Japanese would have conquered all of Asia without much resistance. However, 3 aircraft carriers were out at sea during the time of the operation which allowed the U.S to rebuild and enter the war quickly.
Hitler’s air bombing on Britain for close to two month. The plan was for Britain to surrender due to the tactic of Blitzkrieg not going to work on an Island. Though, Britain held off with the help of Churchill’s resolve which wasted much German resources. This gave time for Britain to fix up and eventually have American reinforcement.
The Spanish Civil War
The Allies didn’t take any action because Hitler had a reason as to why he wanted to conquer such as regaining lost territory or wanting to unite all Germans. The invasion of Poland caused France and Britain to wage war against Germany.
Churchill Elected as Chancellor
Hitler broke the Nazi-Soviet Pact by invading the S.U. with 3 million German soldiers to gain natural resources. Out of the 3 million Germans, close to a million died during the operation. Neither did the Germans gain much natural resources making this operation a failure, crippling the Germany.
This war allowed for major European Powers to test out weapons and tactics. Particularly in the case of Nazi Germany with their new planes and tanks. Hitler also devised tactics which proved successful.
Had Churchill not have been Chancellor. Britain might have surrendered during Operation Sea Lion. Though, due to his resolve, he gave the people of Britain hope for surviving the war by telling people to carry on with their daily lives during the day and shelter in the night. He also ordered that parliament to continue meeting everyday and he too took shelter in London to show that he is truly with the people.
