  • Well of course! There are six different tyes of nutrients.
  • Well, there are vitamins, minerals, fat, protein, water, and carbohydrates.
  • Wait...aren't carbohydrates the things in pasta. Like what we need the night before track meets?
  • Wow! What are they?
  • Yes, there are three different types of carbs.
  • Yeah! Carbs provide the most essential type of energy, that is why we carb up before meets.
  • I never knew that! Are there different types of carbs, like nutrients?
  • Exactly! And, fibers are like fruits, vegetables, & breads.
  • The 3 different types of carbs are starches, sugars, & fiber.
  • Oh yeah. Starches are like rice, potatoes, & bread. Sugars are like honey, lactose, & table sugar.
  • Well, starches help break down glucose.
  • Sugars are simple carbs & fiber helps move food through your digestive system.
