  • Romeo and Juliet: Act 3
  • Act 3, Scene 1
  • My very friend, hath got this mortal hurt in my behalf.
  • Act 3, Scene 2
  • Tybalt is gone and Romeo banished. Romeo that killed him-- he is banished.
  • Act 3 Scene 3
  • "Banished"? O friar, the damned use that word in hell.
  • Tybalt tries to fight Romeo, but he declines so Mercutio fights Tybalt instead. Mercutio ends up dying when Romeo gets in Mercutio's way, so Romeo kills Tybalt as revenge for killing Mercutio and gets banished because of it.
  • Act 3 Scene 4
  • She should be married to this noble earl.
  • The Nurse comes to tell Juliet that Tybalt is dead, but at first Juliet thinks that Romeo is dead so she gets very sad. When she finds out that Romeo killed Tybalt she gets mad until she hears that Romeo has been banished.
  • Act 3 Scene 5
  • make the bridal bed in that dim monument where Tybalt lies.
  • Romeo complains to Friar Lawrence that he would rather be dead then be apart from Juliet. He tries to commit suicide for that reason, but Friar Lawrence tells him that he has many things to be grateful for.
  • Paris asks Capulet if he can marry Juliet, and in an effort to help Juliet get over the death of Tybalt he says that Paris can marry Juliet.
  • Romeo leaves for his banishment. Juliet figures out that her parents have promised that she would marry Paris. She refuses but is not given a choice. The nurse tells her to forget Romeo which makes Juliet very mad.
