  • The meeting did not go well, In June, the Third Estates called itself the National Assembly. Louis tried to stop this by calling out the army to restore order. A National Gaurd formed and resisted the Kings actions.
  • In 1789, he called a meeting of the Estate General. He called this meeting because the French government was having money problems.
  • Louis XVI policy of not raising taxes and taking out international loans resulted in the French Revolution.
  • On July 14, riots broke out in Paris to show rebellion against the king. This is a holiday in France because this started the French Revolution.
  • Louis XVI and his family were forced to move to Paris. He ignored advise from his advisers and he refused to carry out his responsibility of king of France.
  • He lost all chance as a monarch
