"She got feet like a monkey legs like a frog... Better than I do myself..." (173) 5.) "students move with faces frozen in solemn masks... voices mechanically raised in the songs the visitors loved" (111)
  • 1.)It has a literal meaning of being sad/blue. It shows that the narrator is not ready to face reality. The narrator does not understand why he is back and therefor sad. 2.)Symbolizes Trueblood is a sense of being a "jailbird" because on p 52 he sings to Norton about what is going on in the college. 3.)It resembles an allusion to Washington's secret agenda and Dubois sense of empowerment. 4.)The man that sings this song is named Blue. It shows that Blue loves the white man more than his own race. 5.)The students are being controlled through music. They have been brainwashed to make sure that they please the white visitors that come and see the campus.
