Slavery was the main cause of the civil war because it caused alot of tension between the North and South. Slavery was causing certain events/laws that would upset either side. For example, the Fugitive Slave Act made the North unhappy because they were being involved in the slavery system.
Battle of Gettysburg
The Battle of Bull Run wasn't the 1st battle of the war, but it was the 1st major battle with casualties. It was a victory for the Confederates.
Battle of Appomattox
Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation which freed all slaves within the states that had seceded. This was issued during the middle of the Civil War.
Goals of Reconstruction
The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the war. The confederate army never recovered from that loss. It was a great victory for the Union.
The Battle of Appomattox was the battle that ended the Civil War. Lee had surrendered to Grant with less than 10,000 soldiers.
The reconstruction goals included bringing back Southern states into the Union and rebuilding their economy. This also resulted in the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments which abolished slavery, gave equal protection, and gave the right to vote to ALL males.
