I chose this image because this image represents the introduction of Montag's character in the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, also because this picture shows a good representation of where Montag's character was mentally and physically in the begining stages of the book. In the early parts of this novel Guy Montag is a happy man, who lives a normal life in his society and has never really thought of questioning the values of society whether right or wrong was happening. This picture is a great representation of the way Montag lived his life and his mental state state of mind. .This picture shows that in the beginning Montag qas happy as a firefighter burning books but was clueless about the affect burning books made.
Montag's is a Student of Life
I chose this image because Clarisse a 17 year old has been introduced in the novel Fahrenheit 451 to Montag who challenges the way Montag thinks and is pushing him to let his best qualities show through. I also chose this picture because the scale shows that the government has the control over everyone's decision about books and lifestyle and that you are not allowed to think two ways but only the way the government wants. Also, the light bulb shows that Clarisse is causing Montag to think and question his lifestyle. This picture represents the change in the way Montag thinks and that after talking and spending time with Clarisse Montag is now starting to make his own decisions and is slowly starting to challenge the values of society. He now has a pretty good idea of whether what he does for a living is good or bad.Clarisse represents a changing point in Montag’s life. She shows Montag the truth about the dystopian society they live in by questioning his values about life. She really pushes Montag to evaluate his position which makes him realize that what he has been doing and enjoying his whole adulthood was immorally wrong. That is why I chose this picture.
I chose this picture because it shows that Montag is sick and fearful of his job and lifestyle. This picture represents Montag's feelings after the old with a library in her house died by getting flammed by the firemen just because she was protecting the books. In part 2, " The Sieve and the Sand" Montag quotes "That woman, the other night, Millie, you weren’t there. You didn’t see her face". This picture and this scene show that Montag is shocked at what measures people will go to just to stop people from reading literature which was created by humans themselves. From the last section to now Montag has become more confident in where he stands in society and is going to continue to grow in this way.
I chose this picture because it shows that Montag is has become a student again and he is finally learning what burning books for 12 years actually did. In this section of the book, Montag continues to grow and grow as a learner. He is starting to become more observant and he notices that “We have everything we need to be happy, but we aren’t happy. Something’s missing". He is referring to books. This picture represents the change in the way of thinking and making decions between right and wrong for Montag. Now Montag is beginning to seek guidance and teaching by Faber who helps him learn more about books and the way they were thrown out of society. Montag in this picture is someone who has made great strides since the beginning of the book until now and has really reshaped his ideas and his way of thinking.
I chose this picture because it shows that Montag is no longer learning and developing but now has taken steps to make a difference in society and in life. It really shows how far he has come. Montag is now much more confident in himself. In this picture it shows that Monatg is burning Beatty because he felt threatned by his existence because of what he knew and felt that Beatty would only cause more problems in the future. He has been absorbing information from Faber and is now ready to take the next step to stand up for himself. He wanted his problems gone so he went out and fixed it. This choice made by Montag to burn Beatty shows that he someone who is confident and brave. He wanted his problems gone so he went out and fixed it. This picture represents the rebellion of Montag and how he was committed to stand up against wrong.
I chose this picture because it shows that the Government and the firemen have lied to the public about the hound catching and killing Montag just so they can protect thier reputation. It represents dishonesty and how the government will do anything just to keep control over the people of society. They lied becasue if the people learned that Montag was still alive and escaped, this would cause more people to rebel and opress the government. This picture is a great representation of not everything you hear can be true.
