Babies are happier in presence of humans than when alone and don't prefer specific people and will smile at anyone. They produce similar responses towards humans and non-human objects.
They are comforted by anyone and do not show strong preference for specific people but prefer people rather than inanimate objects. They are more sociable and can tell people apart but do not show fear of strangers or separation anxiety.
Primary attachment to one particular individual who responds to their signals. Babies show separation and stranger anxiety at this stage.
