After Moishe got transported by the Germans and was left to die after being shot, and eventually made it back to Sighet. The Jewish people would not listen to him, this can be seen here "Jews, listen to me!" (Wiesel 7).
After the Jews are loaded into the cattle car the doors are "[...] nailed shut" (Wiesel 22). They are put in a very inhumane environment, not given food, and their valuables are taken.
When the Jews are unloaded off the cattle cars they were told "Men to the left! Women to the right!" (Wiesel 27). This wouldn't be the first time they were lied to by the Nazis.
The Dutch Oberkapo is caught on charges of sabotage and stocking weapons. Him and his Pipel are hung at the gallows. In the past hanging he described the soup as better than normal but after this hanging "[...] the soup tasted of corpses." (Wiesel 62)
Elie's foot becomes infected an he goes to the hospital. The doctor tell him it is full of pus and he will have to operate. After the operation is successful, he is afraid his leg got amputated, however it was not. Not to long afterwards the front is closing in so they must evacuate, right before he leaves he says " an even darker night was waiting for us on the other side." (Wiesel 80)
After the get done marching to the new camp Gliewitz. They enter a room and are packed on each other. Under Elie is Juliek, a young violinist. Elie finally breaks free and goes and sits next to his father. Before he went to sleep he heard Juliek, "He was playing a fragment of a Beethoven concerto." (Wiesel 95)
