When there is no hydrogen left in the core of the nebula, the core becomes unstable. The outer shell of the star begins to expand and turns red while it's cooling. The star is now a red supergiant!

After that phase, the star will undergo a supernova explosion. During this phase, the outer layers of the star explode into a radioactive cloud.
After the supernova explosion, the star will turn into a black hole or a neutron star depending on its mass. If the mass is less, it will turn into a neutron star. If the mass is more, it will turn into a black hole.
