The star is born as a giant cloud of gas and dust, which is called a nebula.

Over time, the hydrogen gas in the nebula will be pulled together by gravity and will start to spin. When the nebula heats up, nuclear fusion begins and heats the core. After, the star is stable and becomes a main sequence star.
