Fate vs. Free Will - Act 1 -
All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis!
All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!
All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!
Act 1 shows Macbeth's fate and it is also the beginning of everything.
Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none.
Macbeth and Banquo just won the battle and they're walking down the field.
If chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me without my stir.
In this scene, the witches gave Macbeth his fate which he could say nothing about.
The witches gave Macbeth his fate and he became Thane of Cawdor already. He hopes that fate will also make him king without having to do any harm.
Lady Macbeth doesn't believe fate can just make him kind and she believes that out of free will they should do something about it.
