Saint Paul started off as a very strict Jew, but did not believe the rumors about Jesus Christ and believed that he was a false-prophet. So, he was given permission by the priest to travel to Damascus and arrest, the ones who had faith in Jesus.
Please give me permission to do something about the so many people that believe in this false-prophet
Saul, I want you to go to Damascus, arrest, the faithful to Jesus, then bring them to me for punishment
On their way to Damascus, Saul was stopped by a blinding, bright light. Then he heard a voice: "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? I am Jesus, now go to the city where you will be told what to do."
Saul, Why do you persecute me?
So, they continued onward, until they reached Damascus. Saul was blinded by the bright light, so for the three it took them to travel there, he did not eat or drink.
