Storyboard Text

  • Minor Parties Political parties that have a tiny likelihood of gaining substantial control over a government and have very small electoral strength.
  • An IDEOLOGICAL party is a group of people who hold a particular set of beliefs socially, economically, and politically. For example, a party characterized primarily by communism thought and who wish to incorporate more communist principles into their government would be considered ideological.
  • We all believe communism is the right way to go!
  • A SINGLE-ISSUE party only focuses on one main issue in government public policy. This party is often short-lived as it only arises and exists for the sole purpose of achieving a certain public policy. Once the policy is enacted, the party eventually fades away.
  • There are too many spiders in the United States! We need to get rid of them fast, and then I'll be satisfied!
  • Significance Minor parties have the power to impact the behavior of the government. They can create new improvements in political elections, influence the outcome of presidential elections, take decisive and influential stands on controversial issues, and force major parties to adopt their ideas nationally or locally over time.
  • An ECONOMIC PROTEST party arises usually during a period of economic discontent throughout the country. Citizens unite over a certain economic issue they oppose and express their discontent with the issue as well as urge for national improvements to the economy.
  • In the midst of this depression, we, the "Labor Better" Party, DEMAND that better labor laws are created to give us more deserving jobs!
  • A SPLINTER party is a minor party that often arises after the breaking away of a strong influential leader from a major party. The leader attracts followers and creates a new political party split away from the prior major party.
  • I lost the last presidential nomination for the Democrats. Good riddance, I'll make the new Freedom Party!
  • We'll join!
