Storyboard Text

  • "Hey, Lizabeth,” Joey yelled. He never talked when he could yell. “Hey, Lizabeth, let’s go somewhere.”
  • "Where you want to go? What you want to do?”
  • “You scared, Lizabeth?”
  • “Y’all git some stones,”
  • I cursed and spat on the ground—my favorite gesture of phony bravado.
  • The story starts of with a group of kids and Lizbeth trying to figure out what to do for fun.
  • Y’all git! Go on home!”
  • Zing! Zing! Zing! Zing! Zing! Zing! Zing! Zing!Zing!
  • They decide to go over to Miss Lottie, since annoying her is fun.
  • “Look, there she is,” I whispered, forgetting that Miss Lottie could not possibly have heard me from that distance. “She’s fooling with them crazy flowers

  • Miss Lottie’s marigolds were perhaps the strangest part of the picture. Zing— an expertly aimed stone cut the head off one of the blossoms.
  • Old witch, fell in a ditch, picked up a penny and thought she was rich!”
  • Lizbeth hears her parents arguing and hears her father crying (he has never cried, not in front of them at least) She is angry because of the poverty that they are in and runs out of the house.
  • Lizbeth feels regret, for destroying Miss Lottie's marigolds, and her anger evaporated and is sad.
  • “Lizabeth!”
  • “M-miss Lottie!”
