Storyboard Text

  • Scout, it's nothing but Coca-Cola.
  • Come on round here, son, I got something that'll settle your stomach.
  • Dill, you watch out, now.
  • I try to give them a reason, you see.
  • I'm not much of a drinker, but you see they could never, never understand that I live like I do.
  • Why do you pretend...
  • Cry about the hell poeple give other people without even thinking.
  • Cry about what Mr. Raymond?
  • Mr. Dolphus Raymond offered Dill his drink that was in a paper sack. Dill accepted it happily, but Scout doubted Mr. Raymond.  However, Dill assured her that it was just Coca-Cola.
  • Mr. Dolphus Raymond explains to the children that he pretends to drink whiskey because it will seem to others that he is drunk, giving folks a reason for why he is associated with blacks.
  • He's just gone over the evidence, and we're gonna win, Scout. I don't see how we can't.
  • Mr. Dolphus Raymond tells them that they can understand him because they are still children and do not understand the idea of racism.
  • Scout and Jem raced back to the courthouse afterwards.
  • You haven't seen enough of this world yet. You haven't even seen this town, but what you gotta do is step back inside the courthouse.
  • The children believe that Atticus will win the case.
  • Atticus walked up and down in front of the jury, and the jury seemed to be attentive.
