In this setting the character Opal is at Gloria Dump's house and Gloria is feeding Winn-Dixie, Opals dog, peanut butter. Opal does not have many friends so when she gets to spend time with Gloria Dump she treasures it. Even though Gloria is way older than Opal they become great friends and spend lots of time together.
In the realistic fiction book, Because of Winn-Dixie, by Kate Dicamillo is about love and no matter who you are with you can always love others and support them.
This novel can relate to the novel " Not If I Save You First", by Ally Carter because Maddie does not have many friends just like Opal. They both go through hard times with their family, Opals mom left her and Maddies mom also left, so they share the same hardships.
In this book it is man vs world because Opal is trying to find her place. She does not have any friends and gets bullied by twins, the Dewberry's. She tries to be kind to them and be friends, but they just keep being mean to her.
The mood at the end is happy, Opal made so many friends Ms. Dump, the Dewberry's , Otis, and Amanda. They have a party to bring them all together. This all happened because of Winn-Dixie.
