On 1600 December 31st, the British East India Company was granted permission to trade with the surrounding areas as a means to make money for the company's shareholders. As a result the company was able to establish 23 trading post in India.
By 1670, King Charles II allowed the company to run their territories as they saw fit, effectively making them somewhat like a proper nation.
With this new found power, the company decided to expand its military by hiring soldiers called Sepoys. These Sepoy were basically Indian soldiers. This basically shifted the company's focus from trading to expanding the British power and territory.
Meanwhile, as the Industrial Revolution came around the desire for raw materials also sprouted. So in turn, industrialists hoped that India, with it's large population, would be a profitable new market
However some conflict started to arrise as there were new guns which required you to bite off the cartidge. The only thing being that they were lubricated with cow and pig which went against the Muslim and Hindu religions of the Sepoys
As a result of this, the Sepoys would rebel against Great Britain as they are not happy with this but eventually lose as Britain is too much of a powerhouse
