  • President Kennedy was assassinated while riding in a parade in Dallas, Texas. Lee Harvey Oswald was the alleged shooter, although he died before being proven guilty.
  • At a black baptist church, known as 16th Street Baptist Church, 4 girls died and 14 more were injured in a bombing that occurred during the church services. 3 KKK members were convicted of murder for bombing the church.
  • Freedome summer was lead by students and members of SNCC and CORE to increase the amount of black voter registration. They were able to get 1200 black americans to register to vote.
