The Continental Army retreats from the British. This occured after the British took over New York. The Continental Army had to cross the Delaware river to get further away from the British.
Start marching towards Trenton
Now that we have crossed the Delaware River wer have time to make a plan. We shall cross the Delaware River Christmas night and arrive hopefully before dawn. We shall go despite the harsh weather. The hessians will not be expecting us and not in condition to fight.

The Battle of Trenton
The Colonial Army starts marching towards Trenton with everyone they had. It was about a nine mile march. Washington had about 2,400 men but needed to make a bold risky action in the war. 2 men died during the march and 5 were wounded.
Two Colonial soldiers took out the 4 Hessian guards. They were not prepared for this attack and were killed by swords.
The Continental army attacked Trenton on December 26th. They had 2,400 men while the Hessians had around 1,400. The continental Army beat the Hessians, killed 22 troops, 83 wounded, and 800-900 were captured.
