  • Welcome to ESL!  I'm Mrs. Leslie.

  • Write the correct verbs in this apology for arriving to class late: I is sorry I is late for class. I forgot my books. I hope you will not put it on my record. I will be on time tomorrow. 
  • It's Sophia's first day of class in the United States. She learned some English at home, but the English here sounds so much different. She quickly realizes she knew much less than she thought. 
  • I am ... I am  late... She is late... Hmmm... She am? No... She is..I am ...He is...
  • Sophia is discouraged because listening and speaking are difficult. It takes her a lot of time to think about what she wants to say and how she should say it. She is afraid others may think she is dumb.
  • Mrs. Leslie is late? Or am I early?

  • Everyday Sophia's teacher helps Sophia notice specific parts of the language.
