  • Elmira prison was one of the deadliest union-operatedf POW camps of the entire war.
  • Elmira prison hurt our nation because many men died and got treated mean.
  • There were people who escaped like Berry Benson, a south Carolinian, he escaped with 10 other inmates in October 1864.
