  • Romans lived here, in Britain for 400 years.
  • They defended Britain from Scots-picts and Anglo-saxons.
  • However, in 410 AD, the Romans left Britain.
  • Bye!
  • Britain became an easy target for new invaders.
  • I miss the Romans.
  • There were 3 germanic tribes: Angles, Saxons and Jutes, also called Anglo-saxons. They lived in Mainland Europe. 
  • But there was adverse weather conditions, floods and bad agriculture, conflicts. So they chose a new home.
  • Because Britain had fertile lands, was safer and had no Roman army to help them, the Anglo-Saxons started to invade Britain. In 450 AD, Saxons, from Germany settled into Kent. 
  • DIE!!
  • By around 660 AD, 5 main kingdoms were established by Anglo-saxons.
  • Northumbria, Mercia, Wessex, Kent and East Anglia.
