  • Kansas-Nebraska Act: 1854
  • YOU CANT TAKE OUR SLAVES
  • This act allowed citizens of Kansas and Nebraska to vote on whether or not to legalise slavery.  This caused tensions between the North and South, and because of lenient voting laws, many would in elections despite not being a resident
  • Free South Carolina from the corruption of the Union!!!
  • Election of Abraham Lincoln: 1860
  • JOIN THE CONFEDERACY!!!
  • The South was worried and angered by the election as it threatened the growth of slavery and their right to own slaves.
  • The Secession of South Carolina
  • South Carolina seceded from the Union just a month after Lincoln's elections, many Southern states followed suite.  In just three months, seven states left the Union.
