It was a sunny summer day and the children had just gotten out of school. Everyone would line up outside of the green, waiting for the lottery.
The people of the village are hoping that they do not recieve the paper with the black dot on it, if so they will not be injured by the stones.
Everyone is beginning to draw from the black box, and hoping they do not pick the black dot, or else they would be pelted with rocks.
The climax of the story is when everyone has drawn their papers from the bin. Tessie Hutchinson recieved the black dot.
Tessie is beginning to be surrounded by people of the village, each holding rocks. They begin to throw them at her, as she is sitting helplessly in the middle of the crowd.
At the resolution of the story, Tessie is done being pelted with rocks. Everyone goes home and waits for next years lottery, all hoping they don't fall under the same circumstances Tessie Hutchinson did.
