We arrived at Melbourne Park! Chelsea and Chris were by my side. So many emotions were running through our heads. We were nervous, excited and extremely intimidated! Chris assured us we would be fine.
My mum and I sat together. She inquired whether or not I wanted to enter the qualifying event for nationals. I thought that there wasn't a chance in the world I could ever qualify but it was extra tennis so I agreed. Mum wasn't too keen but she also thought I couldn't qualify so she agreed.
Back in class...
It came to the time the qualifying event was on. It was a clear Saturday night and my tummy was filled with beautifies. I was with Chelsea who was obviously as nervous as me and her mum, Chris. It was in Pakenham and the whole journey down I tried to distract myself.
We needed to win three matches to qualify. I was 6th seed and Chelsea was 4th seed. Both of us won our first and second matches! It was time for my last match and I was rather anxious as I had to play the 2nd seed! It was such a close match but eventually I won 6-4 6-4!
Luckily, Chelsea won all of her matches too, we were going to nationals! But what was even better was that we were going to nationals together!
The lead up to nationals was a anxious wait. It consumed a lot of my thoughts and I trained very hard for the event. A month passed and it was time to leave for Nationals!
