When we arrived at nationals, it was compulsory to attend a meeting for all the athletes participating in nationals. It went for a lengthy 2 hours and I was anxious because the last part of the meeting was when the draws would be realised for the tournament. Finally it was time, we all line up and I found out I had to play...
Oh no! Both me and Chelsea couldn't believe our misfortune. Chelsea had gotten the #1 seed (essentially, the best player in the tournament) and i had got the 7th seed!
Chelsea and I were so nervous that Chris thought that it was best to go shopping before we played. It didn't really help the situation but it was still fun!
It was game time! Despite all the nerves, I knew I had nothing to lose. I ended up starting really well and won the first set. It was an amazing experience and we even had an empire and line callers! My opponent from NSW was becoming very, very angry...
Unfortunately, I didn't win and I lost 6-3 2-6 0-6. It was an unreal experience but it was only one of the many games I played that week.
The next day, Chelsea and I had doubles! We love playing doubles together and it always so much fun. Chelsea and I won our first match and once again we were filled with confidence!
