  • The Telltale Heart Scene 1
  • The Telltale Heart Scene 2
  • The Telltale Heart Scene 3
  • This scene is when the Narrator is stalking the old man in his bedroom. The Narrator shines a lantern into the room and it coincidentally shines onto the old man's unusual blue eye. This scene is important because it gives insight into the type of person the Narrator is.
  • This is the scene where the Narrator kills the old man. He drags the old man onto the floor and proceeds to crush him with the mattress. This scene is important because it is the main part of the story. This is when the Narrator finally rids himself of what has been haunting him. Right now, everything is going good for him.
  • This is the most important scene in the entire story. This is when the police officers arrive at the Narrator's house after getting a call from a neighbor about hearing a scream come from the house. While he attempts to divert any suspicion from himself, he begins to act strange. He hears the sound of a heartbeat underneath the floorboards. It is inferred that the heartbeat strangely belongs to the old man. This sound drives the Narrator crazy and eventually causes him to admit his crime. This scene is so important because it shows that, despite his argument, the Narrator is indeed mad, at least to some extent.
