  • Although Texas is part of the US, Mexico still believes that they still own Texas. Mexico believed that the border of Texas was the Neuces River but Texas believed that the border was the Rio Grande River.
  • The border is the Neuces River.
  • The border of Texas is the Rio Grande River
  • So, Mexico and US went into war fighting for border assurance. Mexico believed that the border was the Neuces River but the US believed the border was the Rio Grande River.
  • In 1850, the Compromise Of 1850 was passed regarding the slave states and the free states. This was a five bill letter regarding this issue. The Compromise was that Texas would be a slave state.
  • On December 30th 1853, United States signed a treaty which was called the Gadsden Purchase. This treaty was signed by James Gadsden.
  • United States purchased Present day southern Arizona and Southwestern New Mexico for 10 Million from Mexico.
  • Because of the US and Mexican war this helped signify Texas's border which is the Rio Grande River.
