The federalists and anti-federalists argued over how to approve the Constitution. Federalists wanted it ratified because they thought that a strong central gov't would unite the states into a republic.
Anti-federalists were opposed to ratification. They didn't want to give the central government too much power because they thought that it would ruin the country with taxes.
Anti-federalists were against ratification because they thought too strong of a central government would ruin the country with taxes.
