Hi guys! Today I'm gonna take you around the world- for the seasons!
A quick note: We experience seasons because of the tilt of the earth on its axis as it revolves around the sun. The seasons you see here are because of the different tilts of the earth at different times of the year.
We are in the Northern Hemisphere in North America, during the spring. Spring here starts around March 21, and it is usually very nice weather with great temperatures.
The spring is usually the time of year where new life begins, and the weather is pleasant and predictable, with it usually being a bit rainy but cool.
But here in the Southern Hemisphere, in South America, Africa, Australia or Oceania, spring begins in september!! This is the same for all the seasons.. whenever the seasons start in the northern hemisphere is opposite of when the begin in the southern hemisphere.
Even though we're in a different hemisphere, the characteristics of each season are still the same.
Here we are in the Northern Hemisphere in Canada. You might want to put on something warm, because it's starting to get chilly! Autumn in the northern hemisphere starts around september 23 and is usually a bit chilly, windy, misty, and the colors of the leaves on trees turn brown and start to fall.
Most of the animals are storing up food for the winter during this season. This is also harvest season, when crops are ready to be harvested.
Here we are in the southern hemisphere in Argentina. The fall in the southern hemisphere starts in march instead of september, but it still gets chilly and the leaves start to fall.
Well we're back where we began. Next time we'll talk about winter and summer!
