Here we are back together at last! Today we are going to explore the summer and winter in both the northern and southern hemispheres.
During the winter all the plants are dead and it's usually very cold, and it will probably snow. Most animals have gone into hibernation during this time. The Winter in the northern hemisphere starts around December 21.
Here we are in Alaska in the Northern Hemisphere during winter. You definitely want to put on something super warm because it's freezing out there!
The winter here starts around June, and is super snowy. All animals are in hibernation!
It's super cold here in the southern hemisphere winter in Antarctica. It is always snowing here and people build igloos for houses out of ice. Its warmer in there than it is outside!!
Summer in the northern hemisphere begins around June 21 through August or September. The animals are usually thriving at this time and it is a great season to get outside and move!
Finally! Back in the summer in the northern hemisphere. It can get pretty hot here sometimes, especially in Texas where it gets to 100 degrees during the summer regularily!
And last of all, we are in the southern hemisphere during the summer. Summer here starts around december 21, so while the northern hemisphere is celebrating christmas in the cold, the southern hemisphere is celebrating it by playing on the beach or running around outside!!
Here we are back at the start. I hope you learned at least a little bit more about the seasons through this presentation. Thanks!!
