Esperanza, I'm afraid your mother has Valley Fever.
My money orders...they're gone!
One of the two settings in 'Esperanza Rising' is California. The main characters are Mama, Abuelita, Esperanza, Papa, Hortensia, and Miguel. This story takes place in 1930.
Ramona, It's me. Your mother.
The first rising action was the house fire. During the house fire, Abuelita sprained her ankle. The second rising action is when Tio Marco and Tio Luis had a plan to marry Mama for the land that they owned. The last rising action was when there was a dust storm in California, and Mama got Valley Fever from the storm.
"Never be afraid to start over." (Page 253)
The climax is when Esperanza's money orders go missing. She was working hard to bring Abuelita back to Mama so she would get better, but all her hard work was gone.
One falling action is when Mama returns from the hospital. Mama was sick for a long long time but she was finally healthy enough to go home. The second falling action is when Miguel brought Abuelita back from Aguascalientes, Mexico.
The resolution is when Abuelita watches Esperanza teach Isabel to crochet. The family was all back together again.
